Our planet is a celestial note in the nocturne of space; a finite alchemy of atoms, elements, and human souls. And for our young species the Earth has transmuted itself into womb, cradle, and maternal deity.

When photographed, our deepest collective memory—that of humanity in awe of the vastness of nature—permeates through the medium of imagery.

Earth · Tierra · Where there are echoes from within...

Exploring the farthest reaches of our planet is both a luxury and an act of exertion; the treasure of that exertion made timeless when fleeting moments are given permanence and shuttered into pixels (or film) of a captured image.

Fire · Fuego · Death-throes of ember and rebirth...

The photos of our planet found on Unsplash are taken from every biome of the Earth: images that are coalesced into a visual library of imagination—a library made publicly available, and shared freely nowhere else.

Sky · Cielo · Just out of reach of the cosmos...

Tidal Verses is a homage to that library of nature, and to the planet we call home. The verses seek to personify nature, transforming of their own volition and contending with the indescribable before, during, and after being written.

Sea · Mar · Eternal depths, indivisible...

This project is also a thank you to the wandering photographers and the Unsplash team for curating these stunning images.

Each verse is inspired by the image above it, and credit is given to the photographer via the icon at the bottom right of every image.

Soul · Alma · A yearning for oneness...

My name is Paramdeo Singh. I'm a poet from Guyana (South America) and I nature and the sea—hence the creation of this ongoing literary project.

Wherever the tide flows, these verses will follow.
